Perma Pure Nafion® Dryers and Humidifiers for Patient Breathing Gases 30th November 2004

Perma Pure has expanded its line of Nafion dryers and humidifiers for medical breathing gas applications.  New tubing sizes can now accommodate use as OEM components to transfer humidity into or out of a breathing circuit, while maintaining gas composition integrity.

Currently, Nafion dryers from Perma Pure are used in capnography, anesthesia monitoring, and metabolic testing to dry out a patient’s breath prior to continuous analysis of a side stream sample.  Now, larger Nafion humidifiers and dryers are available to process the entire patient breath stream.  In some applications, such as supplemental oxygen systems, the breathing gases are extremely dry, causing discomfort for the patient, while in other applications, such as anesthesia ventilation, the breathing gases are too humid, creating problems with liquid water getting into the equipment.  Nafion tubing from Perma Pure combats both problems safely and economically, without the possibility of introducing contaminants into the sample.

The new tubing is equally effective used as an OEM component built into gas delivery systems or as a retrofit added onto an existing system.  The design is flexible and can be customized to meet a wide range of performance and design requirements.  Nafion tubing has no moving parts, is light weight, and requires no power to dry or humidify large gas flows with very little pressure loss.
