Nafion Dryers and Systems for CEMS

What are the Different Nafion Systems for CEMS and How Do They Differ?

Perma Pure offers a wide variety of GASS (Gass Analysis Sampling Systems) incorporating Nafion dryers. The systems are typically recommended by our Applications Specialists based on the following criteria:

  1. Flow rate of the sample gas being conditioned,
  2. Whether the dryer / sample preparation stage needs to be heated
  3. Whether clean, dry instrument air is available for the system to be used as a purge gas or to drive other components in the system
  4. What the chemical components of the sample stream are and what level of filtration is needed
  5. Whether an Ammonia Scrubber is required to remove excess ammonia
  6. Whether the unit is wall mounted for continuous operation or portable for intermittent use by stack testers / laboratories

Given these variables, we offer the following systems:

  • GASS 2040 / GASS 6000 )
    • up to 25 liters per minute (lpm) with dual 24″ PD Dryers
    • very wet gases (up to 70% vol water)
    • Heated zone
    • particulate / acid filter
    • ammonia scrubber
    • With blowback, stack-mounted with probe or wall mounted
    • For instrument air
  • Mini-GASS 1228
    • up to 5 liters per minute (lpm) with one 12″ PD Dryer
    • Heated zone
    • particulate / acid filter
    • ammonia scrubber
    • With blowback, stack-mounted with probe or wall-mounted
    • For instrument air
    • Portable version available for stack testers / laboratory applications
  • IndiGASS
    • up to 5 liters per minute (lpm) with one 12″ PD Dryer
    • Heated zone
    • particulate / acid filter
    • No ammonia scrubber option
    • No blowback option
    • Stack-mounted with probe or wall mounted
    • For instrument air
  • ReadiGASS – up to 5 lpm, no clean instrument air available
    • up to 5 liters per minute (lpm) with one 12″ PD Dryer
    • Heated zone
    • particulate / acid filter
    • No ammonia scrubber option
    • No blowback option
    • Stack-mounted with probe or wall mounted
    • No instrument air required – a unique
  • Micro-GASS
    • up to 1 liter per minute (lpm) with one 24″ MD-070 Dryer
    • particulate filter
    • No ammonia scrubber option
    • Wall mounted
    • For electro-chemical sensors, primarily to remove moisture in the sample gas so that it does not condense on the sensor
  • ACES
    • Ambient temperature only – no heatung
    •  1 lpm, using reflux vacuum (no instrument air).
